School Choir News

Rehearsal Time: to be announced

The Yandina State School choir is run by music teacher Coleen Hensey, and can best defined as an active, multi-age group of talented young people who love to perform. If you're interested in joining the choir please come along to choir practice.

2007 will be jam packed with choir opportunities, not to forget Singfest. Singfest is an annual event which showcases the musical talents of children from schools across the coast. Please note that although only the year 4 to 7 students are able to actually perform at Singfest, younger students are more than welcome to join the choir and will have many opportunities to perform at school functions throughout the year.

Students are reminded to bring their lunch with them to every choir practice and to please arrive on time.

Instrumental Music News

Lessons: every Wednesday, after 12pm

Please arrive on time and bring your instrument, music book, folder and a pencil.

Every instrumental music student needs to come to every rehearsal, unless sick or away. Tell the teacher if you know beforehand that you will miss a rehearsal.

Keep an eye out here for any important instrumental music news!

Our band includes flutes, bass clarinets, clarinets, a trombone, drums, trumpets, a tuba, saxophones and a glockenspiel.

Drama Club News

~ 2007 information coming soon ~

The Drama Club is open to students from Years 5 to 7, with a limit of 25 students.

The Drama Club students have a lot of fun, but it also requires a high level of student commitment and parental support. Apart from the obvious help with costumes and the occasional need for after-school or weekend rehearsal, the students are also expected to learn lines and practise performing their characters at home.

As yet the 2007 Drama Club does not have a co-ordinator. If you're skilled in Drama or simply interested in the performing arts please contact the school office. This is a volunteer position. Jo Kanowski, who ran the Club for the past 3 years, is willing to help ease you into the Drama Club and supply you with a stack of resources.
